Inspection vs. repair vs. replacement
How to decide whether you need a closer look, a fix, or a new system — and how to request the right mix.
These three words get used interchangeably. They should not. The right next step depends on what you already know.
Inspection
Choose inspection when you need eyes on the property: a noise you cannot place, a failed item on a report, or a system that is old but still running. The outcome is information.
Repair
Choose repair when the problem is identified and the system is worth keeping. Ask the specialist to confirm that in writing on the quote.
Replacement
Choose replacement when repair quotes keep stacking up, parts are discontinued, or efficiency/safety has crossed a line you are not willing to live with.
You can select more than one
Many requests start as "inspect, then advise." That is a valid combination. On the MatchLocal form, check every service that applies so the specialist who calls is not surprised.
